Coastal Credit Union is pleased to announce that Arlene Babwah has been appointed to the Bureau of Consumer Financial Protection’s Credit Union Advisory Council. The Credit Union Advisory Council is one of four advisory groups, and guides the bureau on regulating consumer financial products or services by offering the unique perspectives of credit unions. She will serve a one-year term.
Babwah is Coastal’s vice president of risk management. She has been with the credit union for 13 years, and has experience in risk management, wealth management and teller center operations. She is certified in Enterprise Risk Management and is a Credit Union Development Educator.
“Arlene’s experience here has provided her with a wealth of insight into how various rules and regulations might affect credit union operations and the ability to do what’s best for our members,” said Chuck Purvis, Coastal’s President and CEO. “She will make an excellent addition to the Council, and I’m proud that she’s giving Coastal and our members a voice.”
