Dear Members,

Fall is here and I’m looking forward to cooler weather, and perhaps a bit of quiet time.  This summer was a busy one, especially with our various community sponsorships. Two of our sponsorship partners, North Carolina Courage and the Durham Bulls, became champions of their respective leagues! I certainly congratulate them both, and thank them for helping to add value to your Coastal membership.

It was also an extremely busy time at the office. In my previous letter, I talked about my excitement over two major projects that were nearing completion. I’m pleased to share that both have recently wrapped up, and members are enjoying the results.

Coastal Family Day

I enjoyed seeing so many of you at Coastal Family Day on September 29th. More than 3,700 members turned out for the event and the soccer game that followed. If you missed this year’s celebration, be sure to check out the highlight video below. During the event, Lt. Governor Dan Forest presented two longtime board volunteers, Bill Smith and Dick Bloom, with the Order of the Long Leaf Pine. It is one of the highest honors given by the state of North Carolina.

Online Banking Updates

Our online and mobile banking updates became available in late September. I’m very pleased at the outcome, particularly how minimal of an interruption it was for our members.

I hope you’ve had a chance to check out the new look and features. If not, we’ve prepared short tutorial video to familiarize you with what’s new.

Initial feedback from members has been positive.  The Tap to Save feature is a fun way to set aside some extra cash for whatever your next goal is.  The Travel Notices feature saves you a phone call by enabling you to easily notify us online when you’ll be traveling, helping to ensure that your credit and debit cards will work when you arrive at your destination.

Holly Springs Branch

Our newest branch is now open in Holly Springs. The new branch is our 23rd location, and is the first to feature dual-function teller machines. Between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., members will be presented with a welcome screen that allows them to select whether they want to use the machine to get full service from a live teller, or if they want to use it as an ATM, which is available 24/7.

To celebrate our arrival in Holly Springs, we’re hosting a Family Fun Day at the new branch on Saturday, October 20th from 11 AM to 2 PM. If you haven’t yet visited, this is a great opportunity to check it out.

International Credit Union Day

Two days before that, we’re hosting another celebration, and you’re invited to attend.  On Thursday, October 18th, we’re celebrating International Credit Union Day with a special Food Truck Festival at Coastal Credit Union Midtown Park.

Come out to North Hills between 11 AM and 2 PM, to enjoy food trucks, music from Liquid Pleasure, giveaways, kids’ activities and more.  Be sure to visit the Coastal van while you’re there.

I hope to see you soon.

Sincerely,

Chuck Purvis
